Terms of use

Terms of use

What you may do with Controversia’s content, and what is not allowed.

01Purpose

These terms govern the use of the Controversia website. Provisional text, under review.

02Intellectual property

The texts, the selection and organisation of the profiles, the summaries, the translations, the layout and the database that brings them together are protected by copyright and by the database producers’ right.

The sources cited remain the property of their authors and publishers; portraits are published under the licence shown with each of them.

03What is allowed

Reading, consulting and sharing profiles with a link.

Quoting a short extract, clearly naming “Controversia” and linking to the profile concerned.

04What is not allowed

Mass reproduction of the profiles or of their content, on another website or in another service.

Automated harvesting (robots, scripts, data extraction) other than by search engines that respect the robots.txt file, and any use that overloads the site. Beyond a certain number of requests per minute, the site automatically slows its answers down.

Re-using a profile by presenting it as an accusation, or by separating it from its sources, its legal statuses and the elements of defence.

05Liability

Profiles reflect the sources documented at the date shown. They replace neither court decisions nor the presumption of innocence. Any error can be reported with the “Request an update” link of each profile or with the “Legal requests” form.
