Le CPS décrit Shahzad comme un taxi-driver de Rochdale qui a rencontré Girl A lorsqu'elle avait 13 ans. Il l'a d'abord fréquentée, lui envoyant régulièrement des messages et lui proposant des trajets. Environ un mois plus tard, il a commencé à la prendre régulièrement dans son taxi, à lui fournir de l'alcool puis à la violer. La victime a ensuite été conduite dans des endroits isolés et 'passed around' parmi des taxi-drivers qui connaissaient Shahzad, notamment Naheem Akram et Nisar Hussain, lesquels ont eux aussi été condamnés pour des agressions contre elle. En 2023, Shahzad avait initialement été inculpé de 16 infractions, notamment viol, trafficking persons within the UK for sexual exploitation et penetrative sexual activity with an underage girl; la liste des chefs jugés en 2025 était également plus large que les seules condamnations finales. Le jury l'a finalement reconnu coupable de cinq viols et d'un assault by penetration. Il a été condamné à 26 ans d'emprisonnement le 1er octobre 2025. Pendant l'enquête, Shahzad niait les faits et accusait Girl A d'agir pour obtenir une compensation financière, affirmation rejetée par le verdict.
